๐ท๐๐๐, 4๐กโ ๐๐๐ฆ โ The Chief of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice, Virgรญlio da Silva Guterres ‘Lamukan’, will represent Timor-Leste at two prestigious international gatherings: the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) Annual Meeting and the 13th International Ombudsman Institutions (IOI) World Conference 2024.
Guterres ‘Lamukan’ will depart from Timor-Leste on May 4th and is scheduled to return on May 20th, marking an important engagement in the global discourse on human rights and justice.
The #GANHRI Annual Meeting, to be held from May 6th to 8th in Geneva, Switzerland, at the United Nations Palais des Nations, offers a platform for GANHRI members and partners to convene, exchange experiences, and collectively strategize on future initiatives. This meeting underscores the commitment to advancing human rights worldwide.
Following this, the 13th IOI World Conference 2024 will take place from May 15th to 18th in The Hague, Netherlands, with a focus on the role of the Ombudsman in shaping a better future for all citizens. This conference serves as a crucial forum for discussing the Ombudsmanโs pivotal role in fostering societal progress.
Accompanying Chief Guterres to the #GANHRI Annual Meeting are Deputy Ombudsman for Human Rights, Maria Marilia da Costa, and Director of Promotion, Marina Gaio. Meanwhile, at the IOI Conference, he will be joined by Executive Secretary Ambrosio Graciano Soares and Public Relations Official Olga Villanova Sequira.
During Guterresโ absence, the Deputy Ombudsman for Good Governance, Rigoberto Monteiro, will assume some delegation of competencies, ensuring continuity in the Ombudsmanโs vital role in working for the people of Timor-Leste.
