Dili, 16 July 2025 – As part of its national effort to strengthen public sector governance, the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) delivered a dissemination session on the principles of good governance to staff of the Institute for Business Development Support (IADE). The session, held on Tuesday at the IADE Hall, was led by PDHJ Executive Secretary, Ambrosio Graciano Soares.
The initiative is part of PDHJ’s broader strategy to engage with public institutions and promote ethical, transparent, and accountable service delivery across Timor-Leste.
Speaking on behalf of the Ombudsman, Soares thanked IADE for taking the initiative to invite PDHJ. “On behalf of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice, I sincerely thank IADE for their initiative in inviting us to speak on the topic of good governance. Strengthening public institutions is a shared responsibility, and this is one way we work together to serve our nation better,” he said.
He further noted that PDHJ has planned a series of training sessions for public institutions across ministerial lines to enhance understanding and practice of good governance principles among civil servants.
Meanwhile, IADE’s Interim Executive Director, Januario Patricio Barbosa, also expressed his appreciation for PDHJ’s participation. “We are grateful to PDHJ for their willingness to collaborate and for sharing their expertise with our staff,” he said.
A total of 40 IADE employees participated in the session, which emphasized key governance values such as transparency, participation, accountability, and rule of law.
