Metinaro, 10-12 March 2026 – The Promotion Directorate of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) conducted a three-day training on Human Rights and Good Governance for community authorities in Suco Sabuli, Administrative Post of Metinaro, from 10 to 12 March 2026. A total of 25 participants attended the training, including Suco Chiefs, Lia Nain, Aldeia Chiefs, youth representatives (male and female), community delegates, as well as suco administrative and financial officers.
During the training, participants actively raised questions and shared concerns related to human rights and public administration issues in their community. Many participants highlighted land disputes as a major issue in Sabuli. Other discussions focused on concerns about public service delivery and the importance of good governance in public institutions. Participants also expressed the need for similar training for teachers in Metinaro due to recurring issues between teachers and students. Community leaders noted that this was the first time they had received training on human rights and good governance after their election, and they appreciated the opportunity to better understand PDHJ’s mandate and its role in promoting human rights and accountable governance.
