PDHJ Leads Outreach Program for Students in RAEOA with Support from PNTL and KRAM

RAEOA, 26 August 2025 – The Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) RAEOA Territorial Delegation, led by Director Bartolomeu Gonçalves and accompanied by Promotion Officer José Tefa and Investigator Paulo António Lafo, conducted an outreach session at the Catholic Secondary School São João Maria Vianney in Padiae-RAEOA.

The session focused on introducing students to the role of PDHJ, human rights principles, good governance, and procedures for filing complaints. The event was held in collaboration with the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) – Oe-Cusse Region – and the Martial Arts Regulatory Sub-Commission Team (KRAM), who shared their mandate on preventing criminal activities and regulating martial arts groups in the region.

The school director, teachers, and 74 students (37 female and 37 male) actively participated in the session. School representatives expressed appreciation, noting that the event gave students valuable information directly from state institutions. The police commander, representing the deputy squadron commander of Pante Makassar, also welcomed the opportunity to work alongside PDHJ in raising awareness.

KRAM’s president stated his satisfaction in joining PDHJ’s activities and suggested future collaboration among institutions to strengthen outreach efforts for stakeholders in Oe-Cusse. Students shared positive feedback, saying they were pleased to learn directly from PDHJ, PNTL, and KRAM representatives.
