Aileu, 28-30 May 2025 – A successful three-day training workshop was held in Aileu municipality under the theme: “Preventing and Combating Corruption, Promoting Good Governance, and Protecting Human Rights in Public Administration Services.”
The training was implemented by a quadrilateral team composed of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ), the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC), the Inspectorate General of State (IGE), and the Public Function Commission (CFP). This joint effort is supported under the Tri-Partite Partnerships Project involving PDHJ, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) – GANHRI.
In the opening session, Executive Secretary Ambrosio Graciano Soares highlighted that the training aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and raise awareness among civil servants in line ministries on how to promote integrity, prevent corruption, protect human rights, and improve efficiency and effectiveness in public administration.
João Bosco dos Santos, President of the Authority of the Municipality of Aileu (PAM), expressed gratitude to PDHJ and partners for initiating the training. He encouraged all participants including post administrators, municipal directors, department heads, and civil servants to fully engage in the training to enhance the quality of public service delivery to the community.
The workshop gathered 63 participants, including 49 men and 14 women, all holding key leadership and administrative positions in the municipality.
This initiative marks an important milestone in Timor-Leste’s commitment to fostering transparent, accountable, and rights-respecting public institutions through strong inter-agency collaboration.
