Maliana, 12 August 2025 – Deputy Ombudman for Human Rights, Maria Marília da Costa, visited the Maria Tapó Shelter in Maliana on 12 August 2025 to observe services and care provided to women and girls who experienced violence. The visit aimed to assess the quality of assistance and ensure that human rights are fully respected in the shelter’s operations.

From January to July 2025, the shelter supported 49 cases of violence against women and girls, with only two minors still remaining, while the others have been reunited with their families or dependent relatives.
