Provedor Highlights Human Rights and Good Governance in Public Service Training

Díli, 25 August 2025 – The Provedor for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) made an intervention during a training session for public servants under the theme: “Preventing and Combating Corruption to Promote Good Governance and Protect Human Rights in Public Administration.” The training is based on a collaborative framework between PDHJ, the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC), the Inspectorate-General of the State (IGE), and the Public Function Commission (CFP), highlighting the shared role of these independent institutions in promoting ethical governance.

In his remarks, the Provedor said that PDHJ and the other independent institutions under the framework serve as a traffic light, signaling when public servants or institutions risk violating human rights or undermining good governance. The session emphasized that officials must carry out their duties with dignity, fairness, and respect for laws and regulations, while avoiding actions that could foster corruption or discrimination.

The Provedor also stressed the importance of integrity and ethical behavior among public servants, noting that serving with dignity reflects positively on both the individual and the state. Through ongoing collaboration with CAC, IGE, and CFP, PDHJ aims to strengthen a culture of human rights awareness and good governance, ensuring that public administration remains transparent, accountable, and committed to serving the people.
